John Skillpa, a retiring, shy and completely nondescript bank employee, leads a double life as Emma, his female alter-ego, who, so far, has never ventured beyond the boundaries of John's house. But when a train derails in John's backyard, the nosy neighbors in his small town of Peacock, Nebraska finally meet John's "wife" -- and the fragmented sides of John's split personality begin to rip asunder.

- "Peacock stunned me as a script from start to finish. It offers an incredible challenge to an actor -- one I couldn't turn down."
- "This is one of the boldest screenplays I've come across in my albeit short career; it's a character and story I can throw myself into and exactly the type of movie I love to be a part of."
- “She was such a delight, and the whole shoot was really amazing. We shot it up in Iowa, and we had so many cool experiences. We had to take shelter from tornadoes—the tornado sirens literally interrupted our scenes. I don’t know where [Ellen] gets the maturity for a girl her age. She brings such sophistication to the character and such a level of empathy. And what I really love about her is that she seems to be untouched by the level of fame that’s fallen down on her. It’s very refreshing.”
